Baby Shower…..Thank You

The first time I heard this poem I was at a lovely baby shower thrown by my Aunt’s mother-in-law for her other daughter-in-law. Her son had married a wonderful woman from Slovenia, where he lived. On their annual trip to visit their family they were able to have a baby shower with everyone.

It was a beautiful August day and they had pitched a big white tent in the back yard filled with tables, chairs, a banquet table, and an ever increasing mound of gifts. Bags, wrapping paper, tissue paper, and greeting cards all crammed onto one little table creating a pastle Everest.

After the mingling, the children running around, sampling from the buffet, and sharing baby stories it was time to open the gifts. Before it began the mother- in-law, Mrs.M, read this lovely poem to all the friends and family for her new grandchild.

THE BABY SHOWER THANK YOU

I’m sorry I can’t be there  with you,

But I’m very busy you see,

Painting my eyes, my cheeks, my hair,

So mother will be proud of me.

I’m sending this little message,

to convey to you this thought,

The Stork will soon have left me,

To use the gifts you brought.

Be sure to come and see me,

As soon as I get here.

Just give mother time,

To dress me ever so dear.

And so I Thank You from my heart

for each lovely gift for me.

For when the Stork leaves me with mother

I’ll not be dresses you see.

Little Baby ( your baby’s name here )

Super cute , right? :)

Everyone loved it.

A  few months later Little Baby Carolina came to thank everyone in person. :)

So, if you have a little one on the way or are hosting a baby shower for a special mother-to -be in your life this would be a great shower gift printed out and rolled up like a scroll, tied with a ribbon or use your creativity and personalize it.

I hope you enjoy it. :)

Do you have any baby shower ideas you would like to share?

Please, do.

Quote of the Day….

No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world “

                                         -The Dead Poet’s Society

So true.

Not only can they, they do every day. For better or worse. Our ideas shared by our words shape tomorrow. We effect everyone around. I effect everyone around.

YOU effect everyone around.

Build the world of your dreams.

I have never actually watched that movie but, after finding this quote I think I have to.

So, how are you going to change the world?

Beauty Cream and Moonlight

I came across this really cute and interesting recipe ,if you will, for a beauty cream in a book called Ageless Natural Beauty by Sally Freeman a few years ago. I was flipping through the book again recently and decided to share this with you. I really liked it because it was simple, indigineous, and beautiful in its ingrediants and making. It’s not every recipe that you let it sit in the moonlight.

It is from El Salvador and a lady named America Hernandez recalls how her mother makes this cream.

“My mother puts lemon juice into a seashell, then she leaves  the seashell on the sill outside of the window. In the morning she collects the paste from the seashell. She takes this paste and puts it around her face. This prevents wrinkles. Now my mother is seventy-seven years old. She doesn’t have any wrinkles.”

Isn’t that a cute idea?

I have tried it before and it does seem to work, but I only had like two shells in my posession at the time. One thing I would mention is that I think you should only use each shell once because after that the cream that it produces is acidic almost, too harsh. So, a new shell each time, a bit of fresh squeezed lemon juice a bit of  moon magic and if you are like Ms.Hernandez’s mother you will be wrinkle free in no time. Plus it’s a fun excuse to go to the beach and collect seashells.

Has anyone else had experience with this or an idea like it? What do you think makes it work? I have never been to Central America or the Caribean. Is it common over there?

I’d love to know your thoughts on this. I am considering putting up more beauty ideas from foreign lands, so as I said before anything you would love to share I would love know.

I look forward to your comments and ideas.
